(1) The 7th National Conference on Forest Protection

From October 29 to November 1, 2018, the 7th National Conference on Forest Protection was held in Baoding City, Hebei Province. The Conference was sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry and jointly undertaken by Hebei Agricultural University, Forest Entomology Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, Forest Pathology Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry and Hebei Forestry Society.

Zhao Liangping, Director of Ecological Restoration Department of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Kang Le, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Hesheng, Deputy Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry, Shen Shuxing, President of Hebei Agricultural University, and more than 550 professional associations from all over the country attended the Conference.

Nine foreign experts and scholars from FAO Forest Health Office, University of California, Australia University of Sunshine Coast and other organizations were invited to attend the Conference.

The theme was New Era, New Forest Protection and New Development. Around the theme of the conference, the extensive discussions and academic exchanges were made on the progress and development trend of basic research on prevention and control at home and abroad. Kang Le, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and President of Hebei University was specially invited to deliver the academic lecture themed Response of Grassland Locusts to Temperature Rise. Shiroma Sathyapala, Representative of FAO Forest Health Office, Jocelyn G. Millar from the University of California, Professor Ye Jianren, Chairman of the Forest Pathology Branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry, Professor Luo Youqing, Chairman of the Forest Entomology Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, and Professor Li Huiping, Vice President of Forestry College of Hebei Agricultural University, delivered the lectures respectively.

At the Conference, 1 special lecture meeting, 4 parallel sessions and 4 youth academic salons were established. The academic report was made on the progress and development trend of basic research on prevention and control at home and abroad, inspection and quarantine, new technologies for monitoring and early warning, control strategies and technologies for invasive species, pollution-free control technologies and standard system for prevention and control of forest pests, etc., which comprehensively reflected the latest achievements in the disciplinary study of forest protection in China in recent years.

(2) The 6th National Conference on Forest Protection

On November 9-12, 2016, the 6th National Conference on Forest Protection was held in Changsha. The Conference was sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry and undertaken by Central South University of Forestry and Technology, Forest Entomology Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, Forest Pathology Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, Hunan Forestry Society and Hunan Forestry Pest Control Association. Wu Bin, Vice President of Chinese Society of Forestry , Wang Jianbo, Deputy Director of Afforestation Department of State Forestry Administration, Liao Xiaoping, President of Central South University of Forestry and Technology, and other leaders and guests attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. More than 300 scientific and technological workers, managers and entrepreneurs from all over the country participated in the Conference.

In addition, Changsha Consensus of the 6th National Conference on Forest Protection was discussed and adopted at the Conference. It is pointed out that under the new situation, the development and scientific research of forest protection should strengthen the research on pest prevention and control of artificial timber forest and economic forest, actively explore new ideas of macro early warning and prevention and control, enhance the thinking mode of “integrated science”, reinforce the cross-disciplines, vigorously apply information technology, and strive to promote the cultivation and growth of young scientists.

(3) The 5th National Conference on Forest Protection

On October 28-30, 2014, the 5th National Conference on Forest Protection and International Symposium on Green Prevention and Control of Forest Pests were held in Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University. The theme was Forest Health - Green Prevention and Control of Forest Pests.

The Conference was sponsored by Chinese Society of Forestry, jointly organized by Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University, Forest Pathology Branch and Forest Entomology Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry, Forest Pest Control Station of State Forestry Administration, Zhejiang Forestry Society and top-priority forestry disciplines of Zhejiang Province, and co-organized by Chinese Academy of Forestry, Beijing Forestry University, Nanjing Forestry University, Northeast Forestry University, Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University, and Central South University of Forestry and Technology. More than 300 experts and scholars from all over the country engaged in forest protector, scientific research, teaching, management and production attended the Conference.

At the Conference, 1 international symposium, 4 sessions and youth academic salons are established for report and exchange. The academic report focuses on the epidemic and ecological control of forest pests, the monitoring, early warning and quarantine of forest pests, biological pesticides and green prevention and control, and the basic theory of forestry pests, which comprehensively reflects the latest achievements in the disciplinary study of forest protection in China in recent years.
