(1) The 15th China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference

On November 27, 2019, the Chinese Society of Forestry held the 15th China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference and the Third Meeting of the Sixth Council of Bamboo Branch of the Chinese Society of Forestry in Fuzhou. More than 120 forestry colleges and universities, scientific research institutes, enterprises and institutions, and more than 350 experts and scholars, technical backbones, and representatives of teachers and students from the bamboo industry in China attended the Conference.

Under the new situation of ecological civilization and the construction of beautiful China, the development focus of bamboo industry is gradually changing from extended development to connotative development. At the Conference, the vast number of experts, scholars and technical backbones of the whole bamboo industry chain were gathered together to deeply share and exchange the needed information, providing a good platform and opportunity for industrial convergence and integration. The Conference was successfully held, summarizing the current situation and problems of bamboo industry development in China, displaying the fruitful achievements in the bamboo industry in China, leading and promoting the technological innovation and development of bamboo industry and the transformation and upgrading of bamboo industry in China, attaching great significance to the realization of rural revitalization strategy and providing strong support for the development of rural revitalization strategy and the construction of beautiful China.

(2) The 14th China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference

On November 1-3, 2018, Chinese Society of Forestry held the 14th China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference in Yiwu, Zhejiang. More than 350 special guests, conference representatives and media reporters from 19 provinces (cities and districts) attended the Conference.

At the Conference, the Notice of the Chinese Society of Forestry on the Results of the First Accreditation and Evaluation of “Characteristic Bamboo Hometowns of China” was read out and the first batch of 16 “Characteristic Bamboo Hometowns of China” was awarded.

At the Conference, three parallel sessions were established. Yu Wenji, Researcher of Woodworking Institute of Chinese Academy of Forestry, Ye Ling, President of Zhejiang Xinyu Bamboo-based Composite Technology Co., Ltd., and Wu Liangru, Researcher of Bamboo Research and Development Center of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, delivered the invited lectures. 117 reports and papers were received. The development direction, objectives and tasks of the Bamboo Branch were defined, which played an important role in promoting the overall academic level of the bamboo industry and technological innovation, transformation and upgrading of bamboo industry in China.

(3) The 13rd China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference

On November 20-22, 2017, Chinese Society of Forestry held the Sixth Representative Conference of Bamboo Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry and the 13th China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference in Anji, Zhejiang. Zhao Shucong, President of Chinese Society of Forestry, attended the Conference and delivered a speech. More than 450 leaders, guests and representatives including Chen Xingliang, Vice President and Secretary General of Chinese Society of Forestry , Lin Yunju, Director General of Zhejiang Forestry Department, attended the Conference. At the Conference, 3 parallel sessions were established, and 133 reports and papers were received.

At the Sixth Member Representative Conference, the work of the Fifth Committee in the past five years was summarized and reviewed. All the representatives present listened to the work report made by Researcher Fu Maoyi, Vice President and Secretary General of the Fifth Committee, and seriously discussed the work report and the tasks in the next five years. The representatives fully affirmed the work of the Fifth Committee, and believed that the Branch had made remarkable achievements in self-construction, academic exchange, science and technology popularization, fund-raising and effective utilization, etc. The representatives spoke freely, provided plans and suggestions, and put forward many constructive suggestions and advice on the future work. These suggestions and advice will further promote the self-development of the Branch and expand the activity field of the Branch. During the Conference, the representatives also exchanged experiences and enhanced friendship.

The general election was completed at the Conference and the Sixth Committee of Bamboo Branch of Chinese Society of Forestry was formed, which was composed of 211 members and 72 standing members. Lan Xiaoguang, Chief Engineer of Zhejiang Forestry Department, was elected as the Chairman, Fu Maoyi was selected as the Executive Vice Chairman, 14 person including Wang Haojie were selected as the Vice Chairman, and Xie Jinzhong was selected as the Secretary General.

At the Conference, 133 reports and papers were received, including 10 invited reports and expert reports, 53 papers were read out, and 22 excellent papers were selected, including 2 papers winning the first prize, 6 papers winning the second prize and 14 papers winning the third prize. The third parallel session was also established- development forum for bamboo shoots with small and medium diameter, and the attempt was made to the interactive communication mode of expert report and free speech, which enlivened the academic atmosphere and achieved the innovative academic exchange mode. It was very reliable and was welcomed by everyone.

(4) The 12nd China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference

On October 13-15, 2016, the Chinese Society of Forestry held the 5th Meeting of the Fifth Committee of Bamboo Branch and the 12th China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference in Qingshen County, Sichuan Province. More than 230 representatives and special guests from the Chinese Academy of Forestry, the International Center for Bamboo and Rattan, relevant universities and scientific research institutions, and 17 provinces (cities and districts) in China attended the Conference.

After the Conference, the representatives visited Qingshen Bamboo Weaving Industrial Park. The International Bamboo Weaving Art Exhibition Hall, China’s First Bamboo Forest Wetland Park, China Bamboo Art City and Giant Panda Exhibition Hall in the Industrial Park were greatly praised by everyone.

(5) The 11st China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference

On October 21-23, 2015, the Chinese Society of Forestry held the 5th Meeting of the Fourth Committee of Bamboo Branch and the 11th China Bamboo Industry Academic Conference in Taojiang County, Hunan Province. More than 270 representatives and special guests from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Forestry, the International Center for Bamboo and Rattan, the Central Research Institute of Taiwan, relevant universities and scientific research institutions, and 16 provinces (cities, districts) in China attended the Conference.

At the Conference, a total of 86 academic papers and 10 expert reports on bamboo molecular breeding, physiology, ecology, cultivation, processing, bamboo culture, bamboo industry production and management were received. 10 experts including Professor Yu Wenji made the expert report; 34 papers from different places were exchanged, and excellent papers were selected at the conference.
