(1) The 2019 National Eucalyptus Industry Development Conference and Symposium

From September 19 to 20, 2019, the 2019 National Eucalyptus Industry Development Conference and Symposium was held in Yueqing, Zhejiang, with the theme of “Role of Eucalyptus in Rural Revitalization”.

Chen Xingliang, Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Forestry, Inspector Li Jianzhu of the Science and Technology Department of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Liu Shirong, President of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, Inspector Wu Hong of the Zhejiang Forestry Administration, Xie Yaojian, Director of the Eucalyptus Research and Development Center of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and other leaders attended the symposium.

The participants mainly discussed the role of eucalyptus in rural revitalization, shared the information on the latest academic achievements and technologies concerning eucalyptus, investigated and studied the experience in introduction and cultivation of eucalyptus in Yueqing, Zhejiang, and displayed the products and related technological achievements of the eucalyptus industry. Nearly 200 experts and scholars from all over the country attended the symposium.

(2) The 2018 National Eucalyptus Industry Development Conference and Symposium

From October 17 to 19, 2018, the 2018 National Eucalyptus Industry Development Conference and Symposium was held in Shenzhen. This symposium was organized by the Chinese Society of Forestry, and co-undertaken by the Eucalyptus Professional Committee of Chinese Society of Forestry, Stora Enso (Guangxi) Forestry Co., Ltd. and  Asia Pulp and Paper (APP). Zhao Shucong, President of the Chinese Society of Forestry, Chen Xingliang, Vice President and Secretary General of the Chinese Society of Forestry, Inspector Li Jianzhu of the Science and Technology Department of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Li Yanquan, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, and Zhang Lianyou, President of China Green Times, and other leaders attended the symposium and delivered speeches. More than 200 representatives in the fields of eucalyptus production, research and development in China attended the symposium.

This symposium was themed by “Scientific Development and Technological Innovation of Eucalyptus in the New Era”. Researcher Xie Yaojian, Director of the Eucalyptus Research and Development Center of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Professor Wen Yuanguang of the School of Forestry of Guangxi University, Researcher Wang Huoran of the Research Institute of Forestry, Chinese Academy of Forestry, Liu Wei of Stora Enso (Guangxi) Forestry Co., Ltd., and orher experts made special reports such as “timber safety and eucalyptus development in China”, “Eucalyptus development and ecological civilization construction”, “Eucalyptus resistance and its application” and “mechanized lumbering”.

During the symposium, the “Outstanding Contribution Award for China’s Eucalyptus Development in 2018” was also granted to Wu Zhongheng, the former deputy director of the Forestry Administration of Zhanjiang City, Professor Wen Yuanguang of the School of Forestry of Guangxi University, and Lan Baoguo from the Forestry Business Division of APP China.

(3) The 2017 National Eucalyptus Industry Development Conference and Symposium

From September 14 to 15, 2017, the 2017 National Eucalyptus Industry Development Conference and Symposium was held in Liuzhou, Guangxi. The symposium was organized by the Chinese Society of Forestry and undertaken by the Eucalyptus Professional Committee of Chinese Society of Forestry. Liu Hesheng, Deputy Secretary-General of China Forestry Society, delivered a speech.

15 experts and scholars from the Eucalyptus Research and Development Center of National Forestry and Grassland Administration and the Forestry Business Division of APP China made special reports themed by “cultivation of large and medium-diameter eucalyptus timber and promotion of industrial transformation and upgrading”. 11 enterprises such as Guangxi Gaofeng State Owned Forest Farm, APP China and Bayer CropScience (China) Co., Ltd. displayed their latest products and technologies, respectively. During the symposium, the “Outstanding Contribution Award for China’s Eucalyptus Development in 2017” was also granted to Researcher Yang Minsheng of the Eucalyptus Center of Chinese Academy of Forestry, Researcher Hou Yuanzhao of the Science and Information Institute and Researcher Chen Naiming of Guangxi Qinzhou Research Institute of Forestry.

During the symposium, participants also visited “Guangxi Modern Characteristic Forestry Industrial Park” and “Eucalyptus Cultivation Base” in Luzhai County, and studied and discussed the production process of eucalyptus veneer and plywood factories and the application of eucalyptus technologies.

275 representatives from 121 research institutes, forestry administration departments, colleges and universities, enterprises and institutions in 12 provinces and regions and forien countries, attended the symposium, and a total of 31 academic papers were collected.

(4) The 2016 National Eucalyptus Industry Development Conference and Symposium

From November 3 to 4, 2016, the 2016 National Eucalyptus Industry Development Conference and Symposium was held in Xiamen City. The symposium was organized by the Chinese Society of Forestry and undertaken by the Eucalyptus Professional Committee of Chinese Society of Forestry. The symposium was themed by “Technological Innovation Promotes A New Model of Eucalyptus Development”. More than 200 representatives from 87 units and institutions in 12 provinces municipalities and autonomous regions in China and foreign countries such as Sweden and Laos, attended the symposium.

21 experts were invited to give a report. Focusing on eucalyptus resources and industrial development strategic needs, experts discussed key topics such as eucalyptus tree genetics and breeding, cultivation and breeding, pest control, ecological issues, sustainable management and product development, and put forward creative and instructional opinions and suggestions.
